In the Republic of Buryatia in Siberia, Russia, at The Ivolginsky Datsan Temple lies the mummified remains of Lama Dashi-Dorzho Itigilov.

His body has defied time and amazed the world.

It has remained in a non-decaying state for over 75 years now.

“To me, it is the greatest miracle in life.

It turns out there are things on which time has no power.” Hambo Lama Ayusheyev stated.

Itigilov Was Born in The 1800S

Dashi-Dorzho Itigilov was born in 1852 in the countryside of Buryatia, Siberia, Russia.

His parents abandoned him when he was a child. Thus, he was forced to herd sheep to survive.

Itigilov started his journey in religious education at the young age of sixteen.

He attained degrees in medicine and philosophy. Then he was appointed the 12th Pandito Khambo Lama, the head of Buddhism in Russia in 1911.

It’s said that Lama Itigilov always stayed in Buryatia except for one time when he visited St. Petersburg.
