Warning: The following story contains details of paranormal events.

There is a plaque near a West Virginia cemetery.

It reads,

“Interred in a nearby cemetery is Zona Heaster Shue.

Her death in 1897 was presumed natural until her spirit appeared to her mother to describe how she was killed. It’s the only known case in which testimony from ghost helped convict a murderer.”

This is the story of Elva Zona Heaster Shue.

Elva Was Married To Erasmus

Elva and Erasmus Stribbling Trout Shue had been married for some time.

The couple met and fell in love with each other almost instantly.

Elva was in her twenties. She had beautiful dark hair, dark eyes, and a good sense of humor. Erasmus was in his thirties. He was tall and handsome.

Erasmus had set up shop in West Virginia as a blacksmith.

Elva’s family was against her relationship with Erasmus. Elva’s mother, Mary Jane Heaster, didn’t like that Erasmus was older than Elva.
