It was in the dark hours of the night.

The police received a very sudden surge of different phone calls. The callers alerted the police about something that was happening in their neighborhood.

They had heard gunshots followed by screams.

Then the police received another phone call from the killer’s father.

Dispatcher: 911. What’s your emergency?

Sherman: My son just shot his wife… Get your butt over here…I got him in my arms.

John: Hello. I’m unarmed, I’m with my mom and dad. I just shot my wife Nancy. My kids are present. I will come out. I don’t care.

John’s son: Dad, why did you do it?

Nancy Jean Kovach was a forty-year-old wife and mother from Comstock Township, Michigan.

She was a talented singer, ever-smiling, fun, outgoing, and loving.

As a mother, Nancy’s world revolved around her sons.

But as a wife, Nancy’s world was rocky and filled with hardship. She had been married for ten years.

However, constant alcohol abuse impacted her marriage. Nancy and John often argued behind closed doors even though they tried to portray a perfect picture outside.

To their community, John was one of the nicest the people knew.

He went out of his way to help people. He was friendly and a hard worker. Even his coworkers loved him.

Forty-two-year-old John Kovach also loved his children very much.

They meant the world to him.

And he did everything he could to protect them.
