On December 4th, 2012, the hosts of the Hot30 Countdown radio program, Mel Greig and Michael Christian, called King Edward VII’s hospital and impersonated Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles.

Nurse 1: Hello, good morning. King Edward VII’s Hospital.

Mel: Oh hello there, could I please speak to Kate please, my granddaughter?

Nurse 1: Oh yes, just hold on ma’am.

Mel: Thank you.

Meanwhile, in the background, Michael whispered, “Are they putting us through?”

Mel: Kate, my darling, are you there?

Nurse 2: Good morning ma’am. This is the nurse’s station, how may I help you?

Mel: Hello, I’m just after my granddaughter Kate. I wanted to see how her little tummy bug is going?

Excerpts from Mel and Michael’s prank call to the hospital.

The first nurse believed she was talking to the Queen and transferred the call to the Duchess’s nurse.

The Duchess of Cambridge, Catherine, was at King Edward VII’s Hospital because she was pregnant.
